The last blog by Zhang Mengchu(Judy)

This is the last blog I'm writing in this quarter, so I'm going to discuss some comfy topics with you. We all are international students here for study, maybe this is the first time to come to another country for you just like me, remember before we were leaving, what were on our mind? Our parents would worry about our life and study in the future, they also care about our health when we were going to another country. The most important thing my parents care about is my dietary problems, because there are a lot of differences between Chinese food and American food. I'm also a picked girl who only like Chinese food. However, I'm not a cheif to cook. So my grandma decided to teach me how to cook before I came here. This picture is what I cooked, it's not a awesome meal, but at least it's a Chinese meal cooked by myself. Actually, it tasted a litter weird, however, I ate it all at that day.
Just like my said, coming US for studying is really big challenge to us, no matter what trouble we met, we have to face them and solve them. So our stomaches are very important to us, because when we got in trouble, the common thing we would do is missing home, at that time, if we still can't eat our countries food, that would frustrated our mood and mind.
I believe that most of you can cook so well, just give you a hint, at least learn one dish to cook, even you are not good at cooking like me, because this is the best way for you when you have homesick in another country. Come try it, I hope some day our whole class can get together and cook every counties food.

  1. Hi Judy, this is Wataru.

Thanks to bring up a wonderful topic as your last one. Exactly, you can’t fight on an empty stomach! It is shame that we feel hungry even though we held a serious worry. First, eat, and then think.
Sometimes, I look for and go to Japanese restaurant by a desire to taste my home country’s one. And I also stop for a moment when I find Japanese foods at supermarket. In my case, because I live in dormitory, I cannot cook, so I am attracted Japanese food much more.
I was surprised that there are good Japanese restaurant in Riverside. Of course, I miss home made dishes more than expensive Sushi, but I enjoy them. Anyway, eating is essential to live and it might be the most important thing for us. Especially, if it is a good dish, there are no complaints.

  2. yes, if you really miss your hometown food, you can go to the restaurant I told you, remember? That's a very good Japanese restaurant. Do you know how to cook microwave food, because our school has microwaves, then you can cook everything you want, but I tell you the food is very good like you thought, but at least you can cook your own food. 3. Hi, I think your grandmother did exactly right things to teach you cook when you studied abroad or live outside. The more practice you do, the more you are familiar with. Actually, when I lived at home, my mother tended to teach me about cooking, but I always slid out of the kitchen. Afterwards, I had to cook on my own, and I had hard time in putting seasoning. The taste of the dishes is out of control at all times. After much more failure, now I can handle it. Therefore, you can make it if you practice frequently. Maybe someday I have a chance to eat your perfect work, right?
